Il Consiglio Comunale di Firenze ha dato via libera al nuovo centro di autodemolizioni nonostante le polemiche innescate dal consigliere di quartiere Mario Bencivenni che hanno trovato sponda in alcuni consiglieri come Tommaso Grassi, Francesco Torselli, Emanuele Roselli e Ornella De Zordo.
Il consigliere relatore ha tra l’altro precisato che "Il nuovo schema di convenzione è un importante passo in avanti, che sblocca un'attività importante dal punto di vista economico, ma soprattutto raddoppia il valore delle opere pubbliche che l'operatore privato deve realizzare (strada e area verde), passando da 900.000 euro a 1,750 milioni di euro".
