The document was adopted by the Committee Doctrine of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the United States and is entitled "Guidelines for Evaluating as Reiki Alternative Therapy " (Italian translation here).
The document is based on research that the Committee has carried out over several months by taking information from the Internet and books on reiki. Based on these sources, the American Bishops have concluded that Reiki comes from Buddhist texts and religious grounds, that the Reiki healing energy is directed by the thought and the will of man, that Reiki is not validated by scientific studies and has no explanation scientific and Reiki is not accepted by the medical community.
